Maxwell's Restaurant & Bar

Hospitality · West Fargo, ND

The problem

Maxwell's was running on WordPress, and the site had become impossible to maintain. Plugins were expiring on a rolling schedule. Updates were stacking up faster than anyone could safely apply them. The site was no longer secure, and the holes were starting to cause real security issues, not theoretical ones.

The cycle was the familiar WordPress trap: every fix introduced a new compatibility problem, every plugin update risked breaking the front-end, and every theme update risked overwriting custom work. Patching one issue surfaced two more.

What we built

Instead of slapping another band-aid on an aging WordPress install, we redesigned the whole site on Cloudflare EmDash. Same brand, same operational reach (reservations, online ordering, gift cards, the wine club, events, and editorial), running on infrastructure that does not require constant babysitting.

Cloudflare's edge network handles delivery globally with sub-100ms response times. The EmDash CMS gives the team an editor-first admin so menu and event updates do not require a developer. There are no plugins to expire, no theme conflicts to debug, and no surprise admin lockouts after a security update.

Result

A site that does not need a maintenance window, does not run on expiring plugins, and does not get hit by the long tail of WordPress vulnerabilities. The team edits content directly through the EmDash admin. Security scans pass on the first run, every run.
